Bude Surf Life Saving Seniors enjoy a range of activities associated with surf life saving taking part in voluntary beach patrols as well as training and taking part in surf life saving competitions.
Training is aimed at improving beach awareness and water safety and developing competencies in first aid and surf rescue techniques such as surf swimming, rescue board paddling and surf ski paddling. There are opportunities to gain internationally recognised qualifications including beach lifeguard, surf life saving coach awards and IRB driving.
All members aged 16 and over including people who have joined as "helpers" (parents, helpers and coaches) are welcome to come to a couple of "taster sessions" at men's and women's training.
The training is tailored to accommodate all levels of ability and fitness. We want to encourage people who are new to surf life saving as well as experienced members. You don't need to be a great swimmer to join in; there are many aspects to surf life saving.
Several new people regularly join us enjoying learning how to use surf craft, surf swimming skills and about beach safety. For full members there are opportunities to gain qualifications. The emphasis is on having fun and giving you a chance to have a go at some of the activities our juniors enjoy.
We train throughout the summer and people are welcome to try a session at any time.
We have specialised surf life saving craft and equipment as well as a comprehensive range of equipment for first aid training. Members are welcome to use our well-equipped gym that includes a swimming machine and a ski paddling machine.
